Next Steps
First Steps with JesusWHAT DOES IT MEAN TO FOLLOW JESUS?
Our Sin
We are all born with a sin nature. This causes us to separate ourselves from, break, or reject a relationship with Him as our Creator and rightful ruler. In turn, we are unable to have a relationship with God without His forgiveness.Romans 3:23 [NIRV]
God's Gift
We can’t earn God’s forgiveness – it is something to be given. God loves us as a Father does. He is ready and eagerly waiting to accept and have a meaningful relationship with us when we turn to Him. This restored relationship is made possible because Jesus Christ willingly gave His life as a sacrifice in our place so that we could be forgiven.Romans 5:8 [NIRV]
Our Response
Regardless of our past or how far away from God we may feel, we are each offered the gift of a restored relationship with Him. It is a free gift from God that we must choose to receive by committing our lives and heart to Jesus. By surrendering our life to God (that is, to submit our life to Him and put our faith in Him), we can be free from guilt and condemnation and experience the fullness of life that He has to offer.Romans 10:9 [NIRV]
I choose to turn away from my previous way of life and turn to You.
I ask You to forgive me of my sins.
I thank You that You have a wonderful future planned for me and I pray You would help me to know You better every day.
In Jesus’ Name. Amen

Prayer is simply talking to God and making room for Him to talk back to you. There’s nothing more powerful than humbling yourself before God to ask for His help or waiting to hear His direction for you.Don’t worry about anything. No matter what happens, tell God about everything. Ask and pray and give thanks to Him.
